This is almost exactly how his death happened in game; I'd sent Donna out, and she was still really fresh to the team; I thought she could handle a Machop, easy; but it got a Focus Energy in and was getting criticals everywhere. I sent out just about everyone else I could spare (I think a lot of my team was in the yellow already, or something; I can't quite remember,) Finally, I sent Vivaldi out. Because I delayed his evolution trying to get Bug Bite (not realizing that was Platinum only,) he still only had Bide. But, he was at full health, and fight isn't effective against bug. He was taking very little damage, but it's so hard to get Bide to work, especially in the fourth gen. It's like the game KNOWS you're trying to use Bide and screws you out of it. Then, lo and behold, it was going to work.
But then that sonnovabitch machop got a critical hit.

It's even more painful now that I had all this backstory with Donna. Why do I always do these things. I could've made this death inconsequential. Whyyyyyyy.

...On brighter notes, that fight with "Dorothy" the Purugly was fun to do. I've been looking forward to it since starting the Nuzlocke. Also, near the end of this page, I started trying to loosen up my panels; made them bigger, etc. First colored panel, too! I didn't spend too much time on it, but I'm still pleased with how it came out.
